Experienced DuPage County Underage Drinking Attorneys
In Illinois, underage drinking is taken very seriously. If you or your child is charged with possession or consumption of alcohol while underage, there can be serious consequences. If the charge is for drinking and driving while underage, the penalties are even more severe. At Ramsell & Kunowski, L.L.C., our attorneys strive to protect our underage clients from the harsh consequences— some of which can blacken your record for many years—of a youthful mistake.
Protecting Clients Charged with Underage Drinking
If you are under the age of 21 and you are caught drinking alcohol, in possession of alcohol, or using a fake/fraudulent id, your driver’s license can be suspended even if you were not driving. You could also face fines of up to $2,500 and/or 1-364 days in jail. With experienced counsel, it is possible to get a sentence of court supervision and avoid a conviction for first offenses. Our attorneys are experience in helping clients’ accused of underage drinking avoid the strict penalties they could face by using all available defense strategies.
In Illinois, there is a zero tolerance law for underage drinking and driving. If you are underage and you found to have any amount of alcohol in your system while driving, you will lose your driver’s license for at least 3 months for a first offense and 1 year for a second offense. If your blood alcohol content (BAC) is sufficient to justify a DUI charge, you could lose your license for at least 2 years for a first offense and 5 years for a second offense. Additional penalties in the form of jail time, fines, and community service may also apply. The attorneys at our firm are skilled in handling underage drunk driving cases. We understand how important it is to protect the records and futures of our underage clients, and we have the knowledge and experience to do so.
